There’s a bit of a trend for wrapping things up at the moment. Perhaps it’s our protective instincts kicking in, but somehow the body-swathing safety of a slimming double-breasted blazer is far preferable to the more exposed, flappy nature of its single-breasted equivalent.
The same goes for shoes: lace-ups have their place, but all that exposed shoestring and awkward tongue is a bit much for us to handle right now. The alternative? A pair of double monk-strap shoes. Smart single monk-straps may have ruled the roost for winter, but for spring/summer 2014, it’s all about the double.
Far more adaptable – a pair in sandy suede will work wonders with some seersucker shorts, while a chestnut leather pair will look the business with a midnight blue suit – and comfortable to boot, a good pair will look fresh for as long as you keep them in polish. Here are five of the best.
