Tassled Shoes

First adopted by US college boys in the Fifties as a way of jazzing up loafers and lace-ups, fringing is having a moment again.

On loafers, moccasins, brogues or saddle shoes, fringing or tassels are simple ways to make a summery statement.

A tassel loafer worn with chinos or dark jeans will set a continental tone, while a fringed lace-up works wonders with a suit.

Be careful, though: this look only works with slim-cut, simple styles. Anything fussier and you end up looking like André 3000. Fine if you’re a dapper rapper, not so good if you work in finance.
