This time back in 2012, Olympic fever had officially taken hold in Britain. The weather was suspiciously good, Team GB was performing better than ever (remember Super Saturday?) and Omega was serving up cocktails and food to the great and not so good of Soho at its pop-up member's club, Omega House.
Now Omega (the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932), has upped sticks across the Atlantic to Rio Di Janeiro, where the brand has set up a temporary Brazilian version of Omega House smack bang in the middle of Ipanema Beach. Where else?
Complete with a waterfall and an expansive patio, the club will be keeping Brazilians in the know (we reckon there are probably a few of those) fed and watered throughout the Olympic games. Opened on Saturday night, Omega brand abmassador Eddie Redmayne was in attendance for the event, as was Brazilian supermodel (and Victoria's Secret Angel), Alessandra Ambrosio, oh and not forgetting His Seren Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Here, should you find yourself in Rio any time soon (if not in the next few weeks), Redmayne offers his tips for getting the best from the city.
"We went up to the Christ the Redeemer and had a look over the city at night which was, for both my wife and I, unlike anything we'd ever seen." He says. "Yesterday we went up to Santa Teresa and wandered around up there. There are some great museums there and again, some beautiful views. But actually, all you need to do in Rio is just sit on Copacabana Beach and let it all wash over you. [if you're anything like me, you'll need to], apply a lot of sun cream. But generally, just try and take in the atmosphere by osmosis."
