Patek Philippe Has Released A Huge Biography For Watch Enthusiasts

Written by historian and author Nicholas Foulkes

Well you wouldn't want to wear this on your wrist.

Heralded watchmaker Patek Philippe has released a mammoth 544-page coffee table book, entitled Patek Philippe: The Authorized Biography, featuring exclusive interviews with the company's current owners, The Stern family, as well as current and former employees of one of the world's most prestigious watch brands.

"I am very pleased to see the history of my family's company come to life in this excellent volume," says Philippe Stern, Honorary President of Patek Philippe.

The publication was penned by British author and historian Nicholas Foulkes, and is the first time the Patek Philippe archive has ever been accessed and factually documented. Avid watch-enthusiasts will be pleased to know the biography features over 600 detailed images – many of which have never been released to the public – and spans 175 years over the history of the brand.

As well as original pictures of particularly rare watches, the book provides plenty of insider-knowledge and unseen archive documents which reveal stories including that of the watch bought by Queen Victoria for her husband Prince Albert.

If you don't have a spare few thousand for an actual Patek Philippe watch lying around, this coffee-table book is the next best thing. Keep an eye out for its release in December.
