The Watch With The 5 Year Waiting List

The Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is a rare beast indeed

The Rolex Daytona is one of the iconic watch designs, rabidly coveted since its first release in 1965, but if you want to get the 2016 update you're going to need to be very patient, or very, very connected.

Debuting at Basel World back in March (making our list of watches to watch out for), the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, to use its full name, quickly became one of the most talked about timepieces on show, but experts are already expecting demand to outstrip supply by a huge margin.

As reported in the New York Times, the clamour for every new Daytona means that suppliers typically hold their extremely limited stock for loyal customers or high, high rollers. So even if you can afford to fork out the $12,000 (£8,300) price tag, then you'll most likely be left joining a waiting list that ranges from 2-5 years.

So far a release date hasn't been officially announced for the Daytona, but in the meantime you can take look at some other watches that you should be investing in right now.
