Whether you want it or not, we're getting another Alien film five years after the intriguing-yet-frustrating Prometheus. Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, premiering May 19th, follows the crew of the Covenant, tasked with colonizing...something. We're not really sure what yet. But if you can't contain your excitement for brand new xenomorph horror, the creators have drummed a short prologue to the film to help keep fans satiated.

If there is one thing this prologue conveys, it's that the franchise is making a hard turn toward its roots. Like the opening sequence of the original 1979 film Alien, the crew gathers around a table, eating food, getting drunk, and just hanging out.

We meet the Covenant's captain, played by James Franco, the android David, played (once again) by Michael Fassbender, and the rest of the crew before they enter cryosleep. We also get brief introductions to the rest of the characters and even a short allusion to the bloody beginnings of Alien as one crew member begins choking at the table. Fortunately unlike John Hurt in one of the most iconic scenes of any sci-fi or horror film ever made, it's just food going down the wrong pipe.

The title of the prologue, "Last Supper," is also illustrative. As an obvious biblical reference, this last moment of friendship and camaraderie is likely just the calm before the storm.
