So much football you can barely remember a time when you weren't unreasonably invested in Iceland's star striker or arguing over the merits of VAR after two (2) pints.

But football begets more football, and should you feel there's just not enough to fill your day with, a podcast is a great way to sneak in some more.

The Football Ramble

This bi-weekly podcast has been dispatching commentary on the beautiful game since 2008 and since become the most popular independent football podcast in the UK. As well as updates on the big fixtures to come, their recent back catalogue has plenty of build up including an injuries special and a look back at World Cups past such as France 98.

The OptaJoe Twitter account has amassed over a million followers thanks to the genuinely interesting team, player and tournament stats it serves up. The company also have a worthwhile podcast which uses research to analyse issues such as how to use player performance data to inform tactical decisions.

The most eccentric contender on the list began life as a humorous approach to football which promised to be light on boorish analysis or technical details. Here hosts Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson also voice impressions of real and fictional characters such as Peter Beardsley, Alan Pardew and 'The Landlord'.
