Remember The Summer of Brad Pitt? It was about 12 months ago, give or take the seven years that have passed in the last four months.

Last summer Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood and that cosmic wander into outer and inner space looking for a lost parent Ad Astra (AKA Dad Astra, AKA Apocalypse Not Yet, And In Space) put Brad everywhere for what felt like the first time in ages.

Since The Big Short in 2015, he's mainly been producing and doing other behind the scenes stuff, but now the word is that he's going to be joining Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch's train-based assassination thriller Bullet Train.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it's based on the book Maria Beetle by Japanese writer Kotaro Isaka, which follows a trainload of hitmen and assassins with different motives and targets as they wend down through Japan on the titular Bullet Train. Expect it to feel somewhere between Speed and Liam Neeson's Non-Stop. Sources also tell the site that Pitt will play an American hitman called Ladybug. Filming is supposed to start this autumn.

You might remember that Pitt and Leitch collaborated – however briefly – on Deadpool 2, in which Pitt played the mostly invisible Vanisher, whose face was only revealed when he accidentally got himself electrocuted.
