Last spring, if you hadn't noticed, Chris Pine grew his hair out. There was a lull in Hollywood due to the pandemic, so Pine had some time off between the release of 2020's Wonder Woman 1984 and 2022's The Contractor. Some of us made bread! Others finally watched The Sopranos. But Chris Pine? He grew some golden locks. While the look gave the Internet countless memes—due to its close proximity to the chaotic Don't Worry Darling press tour—Pine just revealed that he's in on the joke.

In the latest episode of Esquire's "Explain This," Pine couldn't stop laughing as he read Twitter memes from his viral 2022 Venice Film Festival look. "It's such a long flight to Italy, and then you get thrown into a press conference where you have to talk about a film you made five and a half years ago. I was just tired, frankly," Pine said.

Pine revealed that his publicist told him that he looked like Rachel from Friends, ruining all notions that he had about "looking pretty fly." He thought he looked a little more like musician Greg Allman, adding in an interview for Esquire US's March cover story that he was "definitely feeling himself there." Don't worry Chris, the Internet is certainly full of people who loved your hair, too. And no, everyone: Pine maintains that Harry Styles did not spit on him at the event, either.

The actor also teased that he would be down to join the Yellowstone universe after working with creator Taylor Sheridan on the film Hell or High Water—and that he's excited to kick-off another potential franchise with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The fantasy action film is due out in theaters later this month, on March 31.
