The world is a little brighter, and that is not due to the arrival of spring in parts of Europe but the arrival of Adam Driver in parts of Europe, looking enjoyably un-Adam Driver and showing some sprezzatura while shooting Ridley Scott's forthcoming House of Gucci movie.

Earlier this week we were treated to Alpine Adam Driver via a picture of him as fashion icon Maurizio Gucci, alongside Lady Gaga as the ex-wife who bumped him off, beaming in the snow. Now it transpires this was just the first in a series of Adam Driver frolicking around Europe photos, with the emergence of new shots of him strolling down the streets of Milan, looking like a charming but slightly clumsy professor from a Wes Anderson film that never made it to the cinema.

Towering over Gaga and surrounded by scooters and crowds, Driver is the leaning tower of Pisa in human form. There might be producers and second grips wearing green bibs swarming these beautiful images, but if you squint hard enough it is a scene worthy of Caravaggio.

The strongest evidence that Driver is living la dolce vita are the shots of Lady Gaga stuffing what appears to be a panzerotti into his mouth next to a Milan food vendor. Clearly fully assimilated, we can only imagine he will now throttle anyone who orders an 'expresso' in his company.

It's hard to remember a time before we were able to watch Adam Driver seeing out his days under the Italian sun. Like Rome, there is something eternal about seeing his tall majesty stalk these streets, a presence which feels like it will transcend time. At least until the shoot gets shut down because someone has contracted Covid.
