While currently enjoying plaudits for his portrayal of the villain in Marvel's Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan is preparing to return to his breakout role of Adonis Creed in the sequel to the 2015 boxing drama.

The Rocky spin-off was the best thing to happen to the franchise in about 30 years, so it wasn't a surprise that a sequel would be in the works.

Sylvester Stallone wrote the script, and will also be returning as everyone's favourite mumbling pugilist. He won't, however, be directing, with duties handed over to Steven Caple Jr.

While doing press duties for Marvel, Jordan let slip that filming is due to kick off in the "next few months" and that final script polishes are under way.

So far, the film is expected to see Adonis as the newly-crowned heavyweight champion of the world, squaring off against the son of Ivan Drago AKA the man who killed his pops. Sounds like a fight worth tuning in for.
