Far be it for a small detail like the fact Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is only just hitting the cinemas to stop director James Gunn from getting totally ahead of himself about getting Stallone back in for the subsequent releases. Speaking about Sly's appearances in the franchise the director admitted he's already making big plans for him in the future.

Stallone makes a brief appearance in one of the movie's five post-credits scenes as Stakar Ogord, an ex-Ravager who reunites the original Guardians team — including Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), Mainframe (Miley Cyrus) and Krugarr — for one last hurrah.

Speaking to the Toronto Sun, James Gunn revealed that he's keeping Sly in mind as he develops Vol. 3 and potentially plots the future of other Marvel movies.

"My plan is to see more of him," Gunn said. "I'm not sure about him appearing in Vol. 3, we'll have to see about that, but it's our plan to see more of Stallone.

"[Producer] Kevin [Feige] and I are working on what is going to become of the Marvel Cosmic Universe and where it's going to go. We plan to see the rest of them in the future."

Gunn explained that he'll be "helping to plant the seeds that will lead to the next decade" of Marvel movies, which gives him unique leverage to bring us more Sly.

"It's my plan to have Sly — and I talked to him last night — to find a place for him in the future of the Marvel Universe," he added.

We get it we get it, you know Sylvester Stallone, you win.
