It's no secret that Harrison Ford has been trying to kill off Han Solo since Return of the Jedi. He finally got his way in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So you may ask yourself how much he's looking forward to someone else taking up the mantle in the young Han Solo spin-off.

The answer is 'not very much'.

When asked on stage at Star Wars Celebration whether he was looking forward to watching the film "as a fan", Ford said: "Not really."

Ford had a good chuckle at that, but the smile rapidly slid from poor George Lucas's face.

The actor quickly backtracked (after a bit of mumbling). "Of course I'll be watching it as a fan," he said. "It'll be a little weird."

Perhaps sensing that he had misspoken, he went on to praise his young replacement, Alden Ehrenreich.

"But you know, I've meet the fella who's gonna play the younger Han Solo. Wonderful guy, very sweet, and a very good actor. So I'm delighted in the choice."

Ford is in the midst of a series of high-profile reprisals. He will return as Rick Deckard this autumn in Blade Runner 2049, and a fifth Indiana Jones films is in development.

Chris Miller and Phil Lord are directing the Han Solo spin-off movie, the title of which Disney resolutely failed to announce at Star Wars Celebration.
