Good news for anyone not spending their Friday preparing for a weekend of swaying palm trees and euphoric beats at Coachella: Amazon Prime Video has announced it will be streaming Donald Glover and Rihanna's new film Guava Island.

The film will be screened after Childish Gambino's headline performance at the music and arts festival, and he has now revealed it will also be available to watch on the Amazon during an 18 hour window.

Directed by Hiro Murai, who has worked with Glover on projects such as Atlanta and the video for 'This is America', the film will be a “musically driven hour-long film" and a "tropical thriller."

Shot in Cuba the trailer shows sweeping blue skies over tropical beaches and darkened alleyways, suggesting there is a darker side lurking beneath this picture of paradise.

Reporting on the project this week Vanity Fair revealed, "Inspired by Fernando Meirelles’s Brazilian crime drama City of God and Prince’s Purple Rain, the movie, written by Glover’s brother, Stephen, is a tropical thriller in which Glover’s local musician character is determined to throw a festival for his island community. In addition to Rihanna, the cast includes Letitia Wright, of Black Panther fame."

Whether it will later be available on the Prime Video platform indefinitely is unclear, but just in case it disappears for good, perhaps hit record on the thriller that will be Dundee United vs Ayr United instead.
