Jon Hamm is currently in negotiations to be Natalie Portman’s male co-star in Pale Blue Dot, according to Variety.

The film follows Portman, a successful astronaut, whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after she returns home from a particular space mission.

If finalised, Hamm will star as an astronaut alongside Portman - who she aggressively purses on her return to the Pale Blue Dot aka Earth.

The script comes from relative newcomers Brian C Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppi who wanted to delve into astronauts loosing their sense of reality after spending a long time in space. The film is loosely based on real-life events when an astronaut love triangle led to a kidnapping in 2007.

If this didn’t already sound a touch sinister - Fargo creator Noah Hawley is on board as director, so Hamm might just want to watch his back as we are getting the feeling the uncertainty of space might be better than his fate on Earth.

Production is expected to start in the spring so Hamm better hurry up and dot those i’s and cross those t's.
