As January rolls around, another batch of Oscar-baiting, prestige pictures opens in multiplexes. This time, one of the most talked about offerings is Ridley Scott's 25th (!) film, All The Money In The World.

Based on the real-life kidnapping of the grandson of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, the film stars Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg and Christopher Plummer, who replaced Kevin Spacey in the role of J. Paul Getty following sexual harassment claims against the actor.

With the decision announced on 8th November, Scott, Plummer and their team went to work, completing the re-shoots on November 29th, keeping to its January release date.

Ahead of the film's release, the now 80-year-old Ridley Scott has opened up about replacing Spacey in an interview with Vulture.

On the difference between Plummer and Spacey's performances: "Christopher, who is essentially very charming, has that twinkle, has that smile, and when he’s playing with those words, is a motherfucker. He can give it a bit more depth. Kevin — who, without question, did a great job — was colder."

On why films take so long to make: "They shouldn’t, that’s why I do two a year. We did Alien: Covenant, which is a very complicated film, in 73 days. That would normally be 130 days. What the fuck are you doing, you know?"

On his love for Netflix: "I love the advent of Netflix...It suits me down to the ground. I’d love to do a ten-hour mini-series myself, personally. [David] Fincher’s got the best show on the air right now."

On Blade Runner 2049: "It was fucking way too long. Fuck me! And most of that script’s mine."

All The Money In The World Is Released On January 5th.
