A Star Wars fan has recreated what was originally intended to be the opening sequence to The Force Awakens.
Based on JJ Abrams' original storyboards and concept art, the first draft was quite different from what we saw in the final product, where a First Order ship sends down a battalion of Storm Troopers to the planet Jakku.
In the original plan, a couple of Republic ships tow an Imperial Star Destroyer above Jakku, before it drops to the surface allowing Rey to scavenge from it.

The animator, Tim Grey, explained: "The original concept for The Force Awakens' opening was very different to what finally made it to screen. Using the original storyboards by JJ Abrams, I have attempted to capture what this could have looked like."
While we can understand why it was dropped, it still looks pretty impressive and the way in which it is done cleverly mirrors the iconic opening to A New Hope.
That wasn't the only big change made to the 2015 movie, with star Mark Hamill recently revealing that the planned ending to The Force Awakens was a little different too.
In the original draft, Luke was going to be seen surrounded by 'floating boulders', though this contradicted a revelation in The Last Jedi that he is no longer using the Force.
Abrams will be back to direct the final part of the current Star Wars trilogy, the as-yet-untitled Episode IX.
