The legendary filmmaker that is Steven Spielberg has been reflecting on his incredible career for a HBO documentary marking his 70th birthday, and that includes the series he made with his good friend George Lucas, Indiana Jones.

Susan Lacy, who interviewed Spielberg multiple times for the documentary, shared a titbit about the director's least favourite film in the franchise at the Television Critics Association summer press tour (via NY Daily News).

And it isn't Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Yes, the film where Indy survives a nuke by hiding in a fridge (that then goes flying with him inside, barely hurt), and has CGI vine swinging and actual aliens is not the director's least favourite.

That dishonour goes to the Academy Award-winning Temple of Doom.

To be fair, we can see why Spielberg may not be too fond of it – the film is unrelentingly dark, and his family films have always had flourishes of light to balance out all the scary or creepy stuff. Not in Temple though.

Also, the love interest was super annoying.

Now Disney has got its hands on the franchise, it has a fifth movie in store, and recently set a 2019 release date for it.
