Once upon a time, Tom Hardy was set to star in the Splinter Cell adaptation, in what would presumably have been the start of an all-out guns-blazing action franchise. In the end, it never came to pass.
Instead, Hardy caved in to his pal Leo's request to come and act in a film called The Revenant, and although he missed out on a few explosions, Hardy did earn an Oscar nomination as a result.
Flash forward to 2018, and it seems Hardy is ready to get back into video game mode. According to Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima, both Hardy and Chris Pine are first choices to star in the forthcoming video-game adaptation, should he get his way.
"I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in]. I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great," the director said, in conversation with The Metro.
