Welcome back. It’s been a little over a month since The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hung up its shield. (For now.) Feels like a lot longer, doesn’t it? Well, I don’t know what to tell you, other than that time as we knew it doesn’t exist anymore. We now measure time using Marvel’s Disney+ shows, since there will be one on the air virtually from now until the year 2082.

As for now? It’s just about time for Loki, which will debut its first episode on Wednesday, 9 June. (RIP Marvel Fridays.) In what might be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most anticipated show so far, we’ll see the version of Loki from 2012’s The Avengers working with the Time Variance Authority—trying to patch up all the mischief he caused by stealing the Tessaract in Avengers: Endgame. Other than that, as always, we’re not quite sure what, exactly, Loki will set up in the broad scheme of things. As you very well know, we’ll probably leave Loki with some idea of which character(s) the antihero will team up with next.

But… we don’t want to wait that long. Thankfully, Reddit user comicclub1089 has a pretty good theory as to what Loki will set up: The Siege comic book event, which saw Norman Osborn assemble the Dark Avengers. Check out the beginning of the theory:

The MCU is clearly building towards a team of fake avengers, either Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers. This is teased in FATWS and will probably be a big part of upcoming projects such as Black Widow and Armor Wars. Although Osborn was the leader of the Dark Avengers in the comics, i suspect that either Thaddeus Ross or Val will be in charge of the team in the MCU. Dark Avengers would be the first time we would see a group of heroes fight a group of villains, which is something that fans have been wanting for a long time now.

The user is right—who doesn’t want to see a team of heroes square off against Marvel’s biggest bads? Plus, the MCU is very much setting up the Dark Avengers, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine all but anointing John Walker as the leader of the team. But how might Loki fit in?

I believe that the Loki series will end with Loki finishing whatever job the TVA have him, and being allowed to return home to a timeline of his choice. Think about it - the primary MCU timeline is young Loki's idea of paradise - Asgard is destroyed, the Avengers have disassembled and Odin is dead.
My theory is that 2012 Loki will choose to go to the primary MCU timeline and team up with Osborn/Hammer/Ross/Val/ Whoever is in charge of the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers to declare war on New Asgard. This would be big enough threat to reassemble a team of Avengers.

There you go: Avengers 5, featuring the Avengers and the Dark Avengers battling over the fate of New Asgard. Is that a movie you would watch? That is a movie you would watch. Just make sure you enjoy Loki first.
