Warning! Spoilers from Game of Thrones' penultimate season 7 episode 'Beyond the Wall'...

This week's episode of Game of Thrones saw Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen getting pretty close following the tragic death of her dragon Viserion at the hands of the Night King.

And, according to George RR Martin, it seems the auntie and nephew duo will most likely make it to the end of the show - with or without Drogon and Rhaegal.

Speaking to Deadline, Alan Taylor – the director of last night's 'Beyond the Wall' – revealed that George has been "really quite open about things that were to come" regarding Dany and Jon...

"He alluded to the fact that Jon and Dany were the point, kind of," Taylor explained. "That, at the time, there was a huge, vast array of characters, and Jon was a lowly, you know, bastard son.

"So it wasn't clear to us at the time, but he did sort of say things that made it clear that the meeting and the convergence of Jon and Dany were sort of the point of the series."
