George Clooney has long been transparent about his embarrassment for 1997's Batman & Robin. It was the movie that effectively put the nail in the coffin of Warner Bros.'s regrettable '90s Batman series. Director Joel Schumacher has even apologised for the jokey, family friendly mess of a movie complete with batnipples.

But, the actor has never been quite this uh ... intense ... while talking about Batman & Robin. On the latest episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, the actor is telling the host about a time he visited the Sudan. A 14-year-old kid held an AK-47 to Clooney's chest, made him get on his knees, and tried to steal his truck.

“It’s not because he saw Batman?” Letterman asked, interrupting what sounded like a mildly important story.

“No, if he’d seen Batman, he would have shot me right there,” Clooney replied. “He’d of been like, ‘I know you! You put nipples on the batsuit!’ ... ‘Get me the director, I’m going to shoot him, too!’”

Wow. So, Clooney really hates Batman & Robin. He also discussed his new family, his relationship with Amal, and snuck in a savage burn about Letterman's beard: “I like this Soggy Bottom Boys look you’ve got going on."
