“Buy the dip, short the vix, fuck bitcoin!” Which is to say: everyone’s favourite baby finance beasts are returning for the third series of Industry.

While the last season saw a post-pandemic return to Pierpoint with some wildly unethical moves from pretty much all the new gen, it was all in the name of making power plays and forging themselves ahead in the cut-throat world of finance. But as we know, the house always wins. Most of our mini tycoons-in-the-making crashed and burned, leaving their career and personal futures in doubt.

With the recent announcement of a big new name for the third outing of the HBO/BBC show confirming that we will once again return to our conflicted anti-heroes, here’s everything we know about Industry, s3.

What's going to happen?

According to the BBC, in this eight-part series, Pierpoint will pivot into eco-capitalism: “Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing, the desk find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company, in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media and government.”

Will all the impenetrable industry parlance be any easier to understand in this new series? It’s unclear, but here’s hoping.

Which faces will we see as part of the new series?

We’re hoping all the familiar faces will be back, Harper (Myha’la Herrold), Yasmin (Marisa Abela, currently shooting as Amy Winehouse in the biopic of the singer), Robert (Harry Lawtey) and Gus (David Jonsson), while we’ll also be hoping for the return of Eric (Ken Leung), and Rishi (Sagar Radia) – but will the storyline have moved on from last season’s guest star, Jay Duplass, who played the obnoxious entrepreneur Jesse Bloom?

One new announcement is the addition of Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington, aka Jon Snow. According to Deadline, Harington will play “Henry Muck, the CEO and Founder of Lumi, an exciting green tech energy company that’s about to go public.”

The co-showrunner, Konrad Kay, confirmed the news on his Twitter, saying: “Bullish”.

What happened at the end of the last series?

If you cast your mind back, it did not end well for anyone, really. Harper was asked to leave the company with immediate effect as it was revealed that she faked her college transcript (but was her mentor Eric doing her a favour to cover up her shady market manipulation?. Yasmin was let go from Pierpoint by her boss/lover Celeste and cut off by her dad for calling him out on his predatory behaviour; Rob was arrested buying some coke for Yasmin, and Gus… well Gus kind of sailed off into the sunset as Jesse Bloom’s assistant, but we’re sure there’s still some stories to tell there.

Herrold previously told Esquire that for series three, she’d like to see a volte-face for Harper: “I would love to see Harper try something else. I don’t necessarily mean a different job, I just mean as she always reverts straight to soulless vengeance. I would love to see something affect her in a way that truly moves her to an emotional, soft side. I’d love to see her attempt to move in the world with a bit more sensitivity and see what that does to her. Maybe she finds Jesus? Hah!”

Is there a Industry season 3 trailer?

Nope, nothing yet.

Is there a Industry season 3 release date?

As filming only begins in April 2023, it’s unlikely we’ll see it before 2024.
