Having carefully decanted your alcohol allowance into plastic bottles, rehearsed your tent assembling routine and stocked up on Paracetamol, Piriton and Penicillin, you might be excited about finally getting to Glastonbury. So much so that you perhaps haven't given enough thought to who you're going to dedicate your time to watching play at the festival.

A quick reminder in the case, that headlining the festival are Stormzy, The Killers and The Cure, who will be gracing the Pyramid Stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. This year, as a result of the festival pushing for a more gender-balanced line-up, 42% of the acts on the line-up are female artists, with acts such as Janet Jackson, Kylie, Ms Lauryn Hill and Miley Cyrus playing.

Likely all familiar names and worth your attention, but the scale and breadth of the festival means that seeking out lesser-known gems is always a rewarding way to spend your time at Worthy Farm.

If you're heading down this week but haven't refreshed yourself on who to see, allow us to dig into the line-up on your behalf.

New Jersey singer Sharon Van Etten will take to the indie-favourite John Peel Stage as the sun starts to dip on Saturday evening. Fresh from releasing one of the strongest reviewed albums of 2019, with the producer behind records by St Vincent, Angel Olson and Future Islands, Remind Me Tomorrow is filled with atmospheric indie rock that should translate brilliantly to the festival.

London rapper Stormzy previously played in 2017, but this time has been given a headline slot on the Friday evening which should start the weekend with a bang. He may well use the high profile performance to make a big statement, as he did at the Brit Awards in 2018 when calling out the British government over the Grenfell Tower fire.

Tame Impala will be at Worthy Farm, perhaps debuting music from an eagerly anticipated albums due any moment. The American band's swaggering psychedelic rock will be sure to get crowds jumping - especially with their breakout hit 'Elephant'.

Hot Chip will close out the Park Stage on Saturday night. The British musicians have played the festival many times over the years and always create an electric party atmosphere, with tens of thousands jumping to 'Over and Over' in 2010 and 2015. The electro-pop act released their seventh album, A Bath Full of Ecstasy, this week to critical acclaim, so you can expect to hear blissful tracks from it such as 'Melody of Love' and 'Hungry Child'.

The Chemical Brothers should give them a run for their money for a disco mosh-pit, though perhaps the rowdiest crowd will be for British punk band IDLES whose frontman Joe Talbot is a live wire to watch in action on stage.

If you're after something a bit more cerebral, two of the most exciting talents in jazz at the moment will be in attendance. Californian saxophonist Kamasi Washington has been credited as the artist who might save jazz and hearing his soul-stirring 2018 album Heaven & Earth on stage, with all the instruments involved, sounds like the makings of a great Glastonbury moment. There's also British foursome Sons of Kemet whose Mercury-nominated 2018 album is a brilliant patchwork of different influences including ska, Afrobeat and grime, creating a truly unique sound.

Pop queen Kylie Minogue will be there once again - a performer that will make a great mood-lifter on the final day when morale is being tested.

As the clock approaches the twilight hours you're less likely to remember which synth and accordion act you listened to between 4 and 6 am, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go into the festival with the intention of catching some great dance music. While Idris Elba's Saturday night appearance at The Glade will certainly draw curious crowds, we reckon John Digweed's set on the same stage on Thursday evening will be a weekend highlight.

Wow is another dance arena worth heading to when the main stages shut up shop, with DJs such as Four Tet, Daniel Avery, Ross From Friends and Leon Vynehall playing across the weekend. The Saturday offering at Sonic stage also looks impressive, with Crazy P (Live), Dan Shake, Artwork, Dennis Sultra and Peggy Gou shaping up for a run of acts it'll be hard to tear yourself away from.

Bonus points if you come home remembering anyone you saw.
