When it comes to car design, there are few brands currently producing more interesting – and extreme – concept work than Lamborghini and Aston Martin. This week both have teased news on their upcoming models.

Lamborghini’s first hybrid supercar, the catchily named LB48H Terzo Millennio is set to be officially unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt motor show in September.

The car will combine an electric motor at the front with a rear-mounted 6.5 litre V12 producing a combined 838 hp. Only 63 units will be made. If you want one, you’re already too late. They’ve sold out at $2.5m each.

The original concept was designed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology back in 2017 and looked into how new technologies and energy systems could influence supercar design. The result is encouraging to say the least.

Aston Martin, meanwhile, has announced its third hypercar - codenamed Project 003 - to follow the upcoming Valkyrie and Valkyrie Pro models in its barely street legal, mid-engined and track-centric racing series.

From this teaser, released this week by CEO Andy Palmer, there’s not a huge amount to go on. Though that rear outline suggests an extreme continuation of the shrink-wrapped style that looks to be a trend across the ever widening Aston model range. We might even see it the whole car in the metal at the Geneva motor show next month.
