By We don't know a great deal about the upcoming Breaking Bad spin-off El Camino, but Aaron Paul, who plays Jesse Pinkman, was sufficiently shocked by the ending to spend some time just silently taking it in and staring into the middle distance after he'd read it for the first time.
"When I flipped the last page, I just laid there in silence," Paul told Vulture.
That might be a slightly foreboding pointer as to where Jesse ends up in El Camino. Paul would certainly be pretty gutted if anything untoward happened to Jesse. "He was real to me," Paul explained. "I loved Jesse. I cared for him. I wanted him to be okay."
That 'realness' extended to Paul having dreams as his character. "It sounds odd, but I lived and breathed every moment of his life," Paul says. "I know him so well it feels like these things happened to me, in a way."
They didn't, Aaron. There's precious little there in terms of pointers as to where the plot might go, or where exactly we catch up with Jesse, but there are a few crumbs. Of hitting the set for the first time, Paul said: "You walk on and you’re like, my God, they have a lot of money. Holy shit."
Yes, that could mean anything. Until such time as it's proved otherwise, the working assumption is that El Camino will involve scenes inside a solid gold house.
