Steve Coogan is bringing back an old favourite character in his new Alan Partridge series, as Felicity Montagu is officially coming back as Alan's assistant Lynn.

The announcement was made at BBC Worldwide's Showcase in Liverpool, when Coogan confirmed that Lynn will be making her return in the upcoming This Time With Alan Partridge after previously playing the role in two series of I'm Alan Partridge and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

This Time with Alan Partridge began filming last week, and will follow Norfolk's finest broadcaster as his career is given a lifeline with the opportunity to stand in (temporarily) as co-host on a weekday evening magazine show called This Time.

The show marks Alan's first return to live television since his '90s chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You and will provide the perfect shop window for someone of Alan's talents, involving a mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth.

Steve Coogan will of course return as the ubiquitous entertainment personality, who will be joined by Sidekick Simon (Tim Key) once again, as well as co-presenter Jennie Gresham (Susannah Fielding).

The six-part series was written by Neil Gibbons, Rob Gibbons and Steve Coogan, will feature six 30-minute episodes and apparently see Alan finally recognised as one of the heavyweight broadcasters of his era.

This Time with Alan Partridge will air later this year on BBC One.
