With former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry being talked down from taking up the role of manager by Ian Wright, conversation has turned to whether another ex-player could take up the mantel.

Mike Arteta, currently a coach at Manchester City, has been a target of the board to replace Wenger - a swap that looks more crucial by the day after Arsenal lost their fourth game in a row against Brighton this weekend.

But players reportedly aren't happy with the prospect of the former Arsenal captain taking over the reigns because they think he's arrogant and thinks too much of himself according to The Sun.

Sean Dyche is another name being circulated as it looks increasingly likely Wenger will depart before his contract expires in 2019 should their woeful run of form continue. Dyche is apparently well-regarded amongst the players after a successful run of form with Burnley this season.
