Millions of people went to the cinema last week to watch pretty much all of their favourite super heroes die. Avengers: Infinity War was some sad shit!
In case you've tried to block out the final scene of the movie, the mad titan Thanos makes good on his promise to destroy half the people in the universe, which results in most of the Avengers team getting turned into dust (along with, probably, Frasier).
But probably the most heartbreaking death was watching poor, sweet, Teen Groot disappearing before Rocket. And if that wasn't sad enough, director James Gunn has revealed Groot's last words before vanishing:
As Gunn has previously explained, Baby Groot isn't the same Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy. This new Groot is actually the biological son of the creature from the first movie. So when teen Groot calls Rocket dad, he's talking to the man who raised him—his adopted father.
Great. Please excuse me while I cry about a sentient CGI plant.
