A fifth season of Charlie Brooker's dystopian technology series Black Mirror is on the way, and Miley Cyrus has confirmed she'll be appearing in an episode.

Rumours the singer-turned-actress would be involved began circulating when a hotel she stayed at claimed she was in Cape Town to shoot the show.

Last night on Howard Stern Cyrus said: “If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes,'” when the talk show host asked about the rumours of her involvement. She then confirmed her role but said she was not allowed to reveal anything else.

It would be the biggest acting role thus far for Cyrus who has appeared in Woody Allen's TV series Crisis in Six Scenes, which went on to bomb for Amazon Studios.

There's no release date for the season thus far but considering the third and fourth seasons were both quietly added to the streaming service in December, fans are hoping the fifth will follow suit sometime this month.

Fuel was added to the fire of that rumour when Netflix tweeted (and then swiftly deleted) a preview of their December content with 'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch' scheduled for the 28 December.

A bandersnatch is a fictional creature that appears in Alice in Wonderland's Lewis Carroll, who most famously referenced them in his nonsense poem Jaberwocky.

The word was also spotted on a poster giving notice of filming in Croydon One shopping centre, the same area where photographs emerged of retro refits of shop fronts such as WH Smith and Pizza Hut.

If 'Bandersnatch is only one episode this might mean they're releasing a Christmas special or we're only getting one episode that day. As the first episode of the series tends to be one of the season's most talked about, this could mean 'Bandersnatch' is the choose-your-own-adventure episode that's been promised.
