The next James Bond film will carry on the story arc Daniel Craig's Bond has been following since Casino Royale, according to Danny Boyle's replacement as director, Cary Fukunaga.

"In terms of what I can bring to change the character, Bond is on a character arc that started with Casino Royale, and I will be carrying that on. There will be changes, I am sure," Fukunaga told The Inquirer. "As in any story, a character has to change in order [to have] a narrative."

Fukunaga was a bit more guarded on whether Christoph Waltz and Ben Whishaw will be back to play Blofeld and Q respectively.

"We haven’t finished the screenplay, so there is no way that anyone could know that," he said. "Those are two extraordinary actors, so if there is space for them in the story, I would absolutely want them there. But I don’t know yet what it’s going to be."

Fukunaga added that he was a big fan of the "vulnerability and humanity" Craig had added to Bond in Casino Royale, so it's a fair bet that there'll be a bit more of that in Bond 25. Anything else to add, Cary?

"Yeah, there will be the things in the Bond-verse that you have come to expect. I can’t say too much, though."

Brilliant. Cheers.
