Everyone knows what you mean when you talk about James Bond's Aston Martin. The DB5 is as much a part of the Bond mythos as a tux and a borderline obsessive attitude to how his martinis are made. It's the car.

We've seen the DB5 a lot over Daniel Craig's stint as Bond - it turned up in Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre - but Bond 25 will reportedly see the reintroduction of a deeper cut Aston, an Aston for the real fans.

The last time we saw Bond in an Aston Martin, it was his rebuilt DB5 at the end of ’Spectre’

As reported by motor1.com and Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, Bond 25 could see the return of the Aston Martin Series II V8 Vantage, a car last seen in the Timothy Dalton era in The Living Daylights. Back then, of course, it had been souped up with a few tasty extras from Q branch. Some were sensible precautions (bulletproof windows and doors, tyre spikes), some slightly more aggressive (lasers in front wheel hubcaps, heat-seaking missiles behind fog lamps) and some apparently borrowed from Starsky & Hutch (police band radio scanner).

Whether they're still present and functional remains to be seen. From the pictures which have come out of the set, which you can find easily enough if you do some foraging, it looks like the Vantage will be part of a big chase sequence on the Norwegian coastline, possibly involving a big red helicopter.

Or possibly not involving a big red helicopter, which is more likely flying alongside the car filming it. Either way, handy to have some laser hubcaps to hand.
