Imagine the opportunities for a would-be prankster let loose on the Breaking Bad set: pretending to hoover up Blue Sky meth, putting a mannequin in a hazmat suit and sitting it somewhere around the studio, dissolving a colleague's shoes in hydrofluoric acid. Oh, the larks you could have.

Closet prankster Bryan Cranston was in on the action, and used to enjoy winding up co-star Aaron Paul by making him think that his character Jesse Pinkman had been unceremoniously killed off when they got a new script through.

"He comes up to me and just gives me a really long, exaggerated hug," Paul said. "And he's just not letting me go. I’m like, 'What's going on?' 'Hey man, it's been a fun ride.' I'm like, 'What do you mean?' … He walks away."

On another occasion Cranston reminded Paul about an upcoming coffin-fitting he was apparently booked in for.

Paul was reminiscing during a Comic-Con panel which brought together the key members of the Breaking Bad team: Paul, Cranston, co-stars including Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk and creator Vince Gilligan.

During the panel, Gilligan stamped on any hopes that Walt and Jesse might pop up in Breaking Bad spin-off Better Caul Saul.

"I think there's an excellent chance of any and all these folks showing up," said Gilligan. "[But] you will not see Walt or Jesse in season four of Better Call Saul, and not to be a downer, but we hate jerking folks around."

That's absolutely not the pranking spirit, Vince. But then maybe he's having a big prank of his own there, and they're actually going to turn up after all?
