Last year, Argentinian football nomad Carlos Tevez was heavily criticised for his dire performances in the Chinese Super League, following a big money move to Shanghai Shenhua.

The former Manchester City striker, 33, was picking up a reported annual salary of $41 million at the cash-rich club, making him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

He got off to a good start with a debut goal, but things soon turned sour as fans and management accused him of being overweight, unfit and apathetic. He was dropped by coach Wu Jingui, and ultimately moved back to his first club Boca Juniors.

But if fans were fed-up with his antics then, they’ll be furious after hearing Tevez describe his lucrative campaign in China as a holiday.

He joked in an interview with Argentine TV: It's fine because I was on vacation for seven months."

He said: "When I landed in China, I wanted to return to Boca."

Tevez's attitude has come under question in the latter part of his career, but that doesn’t mean Boca fans aren’t delighted to see their prodigal son return. According to former Boca legend Maradona, his return is “Perfect.”

"He filled Santa's sack with dollars and now he has returned to Boca."
