Cristiano Ronaldo's meltdown after his red card in Juventus' game against Valencia - a storm of screaming, aimless wandering, turf-punching, horizontal grief spasms and hot, gasping, gulping tears which is presumably still going on somewhere in the bowels of the Mestella Stadium - might get a lot worse.

If UEFA's panel decides that Ronaldo deserves more than the mandatory one-match ban he's due after a straight red for appearing to pull Jeison Murillo's hair, then the former Manchester United man could miss a reunion with his old club when Juventus head to Old Trafford in their third Champions League group tie.

Worse still, if he gets an additional two-game ban then he'll miss the return game in Italy. The burning injustice moved Ronaldo's sister to wish divine retribution on the match officials. "The shame of football," she wrote on Instagram. "Justice will be served. They want to destroy my brother, but God never sleeps. There will be a high price for these tears. They want to bring you down, but they won't succeed."

Ronaldo will find out on 27 September whether he'll get any more than a one-game ban. Until then, watch the whole operatic wobbly again.
