By Daniel Craig has just wrapped filming on what's presumed to be his final film as James Bond, No Time To Die, and he's given the film, its crew, and the part itself an heartfelt send-off.
"I just want to say β and I am really quite drunk now so I won't go on for long β this has been one of the best, most wonderful experiences I have ever had," Craig says in a video that's doing the rounds on Twitter. There's also a very large Bond-themed cake by Craig's elbow which warrants mention. It looks very impressive.
"You have all done the most amazing job. I could not be more proud to work with every single one of you on this production. I would like to thank you for this evening, for Barbara [Broccoli, producer], for putting it on. Thank goodness, we did this tonight, because I love you."
Aw, Daniel. Stop it. That's an admirably restrained speech to mark the end of a job he's had for 13 years now, and a very warm way to clock off for the last time. Not for Craig the traditional awkward first pint with everyone from work after your last day, then the jovial, wistful next couple of pints with actual work mates as people start filtering out, then the gradually more angsty score-settling which sets in around pint six. That's why he's been 007 for the last 13 years. He's better than us.
