We've got a few more details on why Danny Boyle has walked away from directing Bond 25, and it looks like the nebulous "creative differences" defence really refers to a clash with producers and a possible clash with Daniel Craig over the casting of the villain.

The Telegraph reports insiders as saying that while Boyle was happy with a plot informed by the current tensions with Russia - in which Bond fights a big bad Russian bloke - there was a falling out over whether that big bad Russian bloke ought to be played by Tomasz Kot. While relatively unknown compared to Bond's last two villains, Christoph Waltz and Javier Bardem, Kot was the lead in this year's Palme D'Or winner, Cold War.

We don't know who was on what side of the disagreement, but the newspaper also quotes the source as saying that Craig "has a big say in all the casting decisions", including handpicking the actresses to play each of his four Bond girls.

The source went on: "It was telling the producers put his [Craig's] name on their release saying that Boyle had been sacked."

While 'sacked' is a bit of a leap, the source is heavily implying that they feel Boyle left after a "creative" (read: casting) "difference" (read: irresolvable barney) with Craig.
