More details are emerging of Danny Boyle's mission to modernise the James Bond franchise.

The filmmaker confirmed he is currently working on a script for Bond 25 with his long time collaborator, John Hodge.

The pair have worked on a number of films together, including Trainspotting, and have pretty big plans when it comes to 007.

While Boyle said he would "be a fool" to give away any spoilers, he did say he will be looking towards #MeToo when it comes to the portrayal of women in the film.

As the Independent reports, when Boyle was asked if the Time's Up movement would influence the role of the Bond girls, he said: “You write in real time.”

“You acknowledge the legacy of the world [of Bond] and you write in the world — but you also write in the modern world as well.”

Boyle was speaking at a screening for his new show 'Trust' when he confirmed he was currently working on the script. However, he did say his potential role in the film all hung on the outcome of the script, so we will have to wait for MGM to confirm the director.

Bond 25 is currently expected to be released in late 2019.
