Straight off the back of seeing This Is America go platinum and become the year's definitive single, it looks like Donald Glover is ready to jump into his next era-shaking project: playing Willy Wonka.

According to Collider, Glover, Ryan Gosling and Ezra Miller from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Need To Talk About Kevin and Justice League are the three actors Warner Brothers is chasing for its Willy Wonka origins film.

Yes, its Willy Wonka origins film. There will be a Willy Wonka origins film.

Gosling has worked for Warner Bros a few times before on Blade Runner 2049, The Nice Guys and Gangster Squad, while Miller is in Warner Bros' Fantastic Beasts and DC Universe franchises.

We know that Paddington director Paul King is on board to direct it, but other details are sketchy. You'd hope we'd see exactly how Wonka managed to ingratiate himself with a species of small but precocious singing gnomes, save them from their enemies and blag free labour from them.

You'd also hope Gosling/Glover/Miller's Wonka doesn't do that glassy-eyed mania thing Johnny Depp did in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Creepy.
