If ever the Bond filmmakers decide to ask Ed Sheeran to follow in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey, Adele and Sam Smith, he's completely ready for it.

Speaking on Ireland's The Late Late Show on 15 December, Sheeran revealed to host Ryan Tubridy that he's had a Bond theme song prepared for the last three years, just in case he gets the call.

"With Bond, I've had a theme tune written for about three years, just in case," he shared, even while he admitted he hasn't actually been asked to do it at all. (Yet.)

The singer also wouldn't share the title of the track, "because someone might steal it", but he seems pretty confident in it too, adding: "But it's good, it's good."

Sheeran went on to explain that preparing for a possible big moment in his career ahead of time has served him in good stead recently, as it worked for him during his collaboration with Eminem for the rapper's new album Revival.

"I just recently did a song with one of my all time heroes Eminem, and when we did a song together I already had the song planned, because I was like if ever I work with Eminem I've got this song.

"So it's the same with Bond... If ever I'm called, I'll be like, 'Right, here you go.'"
In more hopeful Bond-related news, Paloma Faith has also thrown her hat into the ring for the title track. Let the battle of the warbling redheads commence.
