We've got another little shard of info on the Game of Thrones finale from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays floppy-haired incest fan Jaime Lannister.

Chatting at Cannes, Coster-Waldau revealed that GoT will end "on its own terms".

"I also know that we end the right way and the show ends on its own terms," he said. "When I read the scripts for the last season I was like, 'Wow, they really pulled it off'. It's one story from season one to nine [eight, actually, Nikolaj] and it makes sense."

Coster-Waldau went on to talk about the intense secrecy around season eight's scripts and the lengths to which the production team are willing to go to maintain their security.

"They're very, very strict. It's reached a crazy level this year," he said. "We actually get the scripts and we shoot the scene - we only have it digitally, and when you've done the scene it just vanishes. It's like Mission: Impossible - 'This will self-destruct.'"

What can we infer from all that? Well, Coster-Waldau's not great with numbers for one thing, but knowing that the ending makes sense is reassuring and rules out a Lost-style hang-on-so-were-they-all-dead-from-the-start thing.

It also sounds like we'll be reaching way back into season one to yank on some narrative threads for the conclusion. But what will Coster-Waldau miss most when he's hung up Jaime's jerkin for the last time?

"I'm gonna miss the people and also I'm gonna miss Belfast," he said. Aw.
