Despite launching himself several feet into the air, twisting like a massive Welsh salmon and banging an overhead kick into the top corner in the Champions League final against Liverpool, Gareth Bale hasn't been shortlisted for Uefa's Goal Of The Season award.

As the shortlist is composed of one nominated goal from each of Uefa's competitions, Cristiano Ronaldo's overhead kick against Juventus took the Champions League spot, meaning Bale finds himself unceremoniously slung onto the pile of rejected goalmouth scrambles, bobbling shinners and keeper's-gotta-do-better-there ricks.

Other goals up for the award include England left-back Lucy Bronze's volley for Lyon against Manchester City in the Women's Champions League, Elliot Embleton's bob, weave and top-corner curler for England against Turkey at the Under-19 European Championships and Dimitri Payet slaloming through Leipzig in the Europa League.

There are also representatives from Uefa's futsal leagues, one of which is a rabona so gratuitously smug that if you scored exactly the same goal in a normal five-a-side game you'd be lucky to survive your hour in a rented school hall with your shins intact.

You can watch all the goals here.
