House of Cards actor - and soon to be on-screen POTUS - Robin Wright has broken her silence about her former co-star Kevin Spacey.

Last year multiple stories of sexual assault and harassment involving Spacey came to light following allegations against Harvey Weinstein and the birth of the #MeToo movement.

Spacey was subsequently fired from the show and it was announced that Wright, who frankly should have been made the lead long ago, would take up the reigns of the series for its last season.

Now Wright has discussed her relationship with the disgraced actor in an interview on NBC’s Today, which is due to air in full later on today.

“Kevin and I knew each other between action and cut, and in between setups where we would giggle,” she said. “I didn’t really– I didn’t know the man. I knew the incredible craftsman that he is.”

In contrast House of Cards cast member Michael Kelly described the revelations and subsequent exit of Spacey from the Netflix show as "heartbreaking" earlier this year.

The revamped eight-episode final season of House Of Cards has added new cast names Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear and Cody Fern. In a recently released teaser and further images from the series Wright takes centre-stage.

We see her standing at her desk in the Oval Office saying "we're just getting started" with the command to 'Hail to the chief'.
