Game of Thrones fans have already begun digging into its new prequel series House of the Dragon, watching over the ancestors of the famous Daenerys Targaryen.

The first episodes have seen Rhaenyra Targaryen played by young Australian actress Milly Alcock. Later in the series, Truthseekers star Emma D'Arcy will take over the role, playing an older version of the character.

However, Alcock has now revealed the show's director Miguel Sapochnik insisted she didn't meet D'Arcy before filming to discuss how they were each planning to portray the role.

"Me and Emma were like, 'Let's meet up,'" Alcock told The Hollywood Reporter. "We wanted to have a meeting with [director Miguel Sapochnik] and have a discussion about Rhaenyra's progression as a character.

"And Miguel didn't want us to meet – which was really interesting! So, we never had that discussion.

"Miguel was like, 'Just trust that you that you both have it.' I think he was aware we would be trying to mimic each other."

Rhaenyra isn't the only character who is set to age up later in the series as the young Alicent Hightower has been played by Emily Carey in the prequel so far.

Later in the series, Ready Player One actress Olivia Cooke will play an older version of Alicent.

Other big-name stars featuring in the series include: Doctor Who actor Matt Smith, Peaky Blinders star Paddy Considine, Spider-Man: No Way Home's Rhys Ifans, Fate: The Winx Saga actress Eve Best and Line of Duty's Steve Toussaint.

The fantasy series is being seen as a success for HBO, smashing ratings records for the network.

As a result, House of the Dragon has already been renewed for a second series.
