Hugh Grant has won plenty of new fans with his recent turn in Paddington 2, but he hasn't always enjoyed this much popularity from everyone

All the way back in 1995, when he was working on Michael Hoffman's Restoration, Hugh says that not only was his co-star Robert Downey Jr not too keen on him, he actually wanted to kill him.

"[He] hated me," Hugh told People of the future Iron Man's feelings towards him.

"We did a thing called Restoration, and he took one look at me and wanted to kill me."

When he was asked why, Hugh was oblivious.

"I don't know. I was so hurt," he said.

But all that was a long time ago, and after this story first got out, Robert Downey Jr tweeted Hugh to let him know that was all in the past.

"A lot has happened over two decades!" he said,

"I respect how Mr. Grant has matured as an artist & voice against violations of privacy. Let's break bread together soon @HackedOffHugh! #burythehatchet2018."

In the oh-so candid interview, Hugh also spilled the beans on his relationships with other past co-stars Drew Barrymore ("hate[d] me a bit") Emma Thompson ("genius"), Andie MacDowell ("southern peach charmer") and Robin Willimas ("genius on another level").

And what about the one you're all interested in, his Bridget Jones's Diary co-star Renée Zellweger?

"Renee loves me, and I love Renee."
