Earlier this week, Idris Elba stopped round for a spot of tea at Buckingham Palace, as you do. (It was actually the One Million Young Dinner to celebrate the work of Prince Charles' charity, The Prince's Trust, but, you know).

While there, he apparently got on to the subject of the forthcoming royal nuptials, and Meghan Markle joining the family.

As he recounted to Sky News, Big Dris has nothing but good things to say.
"As a strong woman marrying into our royal family, she's going to be a role model for any woman," he said.

Of particular note was her mixed heritage. 'The point is that of course our society is one of mixed heritage and it's nice to see Meghan within the royal family. It's great."

"And of course she's going to be a beacon and of course she's going to be someone that people look towards," he continued.

A good point well made. And maybe having another royal in his corner can finally help him put those Bond rumours to bed...
