By The old Nazi-zombies trope has been doing the rounds for decades now, but it looks like there's life - of some description - in it yet.
The JJ Abrams-produced, Julius Avery-directed Overlord follows a group of American soldiers, including Jovan Adepo (Fences, Mother!), who parachute behind enemy lines just before D-Day.
Overlord was the Allies' codename for the D-Day landings in June 1944, in case you were wondering.
In a house in the woods, the soldiers find all sorts: bodies gestating in amniotic sacks, loads of things which apparently need to be flamethrowered to death, and more AC/DC than you'd expect in a typical Normandy forest.
The line, "a thousand-year army needs thousand-year soldiers," does imply we're looking at mutant/zombie/vampire hybrid super-soldier army here, and it also looks like there are gritty genre thrills in the same vein as Avery's only previous feature, the Ewan McGregor heist thriller Son Of A Gun.
Despite months of rumours to the contrary, Abrams has said that this isn't a fourth instalment in the Cloverfield series. "We are actually developing a true, dedicated Cloverfield sequel, which will be coming to you, theatres very soon," he said in April.
However, as some have pointed out on Twitter, the font does look suspiciously similar to that used through the Cloverfield films...
Then again, it could all be a bit of a ruse. One thing Abrams has confirmed is that it's apparently "batshit crazy".
Overlord is out on 25 October in the UK.
