The trailer for forthcoming Western The Sisters Brothers is out, and it looks exactly as much fun as a darkly comic shoot-out between Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, John C Reilly and Riz Ahmed soundtracked by Gloria Jones' 'Tainted Love' ought to be. Which is to say, very.

It's called The Sisters Brothers, and follows sensible Eli (Reilly) and alcoholic Charlie (Phoenix) Sisterd, two hitmen who are thinking of getting out of the game but have one last job to do: kill a prospector and chemist called Hermann Kermit Warm (Ahmed).

However, Warm becomes friends with Morris (Gyllenhaal) and tells him about his new invention, a thick goo which makes gold in the riverbeds light up. So, it looks like it turns into a two-on-two deathmatch between Gyllenhaal and Ahmed on one side and Phoenix and Reilly on the other.

It's being directed by Jacques Audiard, who also did A Prophet and Rust And Bone, and there's a part for Rutger Hauer as well, though quite where he slots in isn't clear yet. There will also be, as the trailer shows, some quite magnificent hats.

The Sisters Brothers doesn't have a firm UK release date, but it'll be out in France on 19 September.
