According the The Sun, there's only one thing standing between Jose Mourinho and a new contract guaranteeing his future at Manchester United for the next three years; a lack of cash to hit his transfer targets.

Apparently, Mourinho is frustrated by the club's refusal to give him an extra £80 million to spend on new players.

The news comes after the Special One complained that the £300 million he has to spend at United isn't enough to compete with wealthier clubs like Manchester City.

Talks with the Old Trafford head honchos about drumming up the extra cash are said to be on-going, but it doesn't look like Mourinho will be going anywhere soon. When asked last year if he could see himself at the club in the foreseeable future, he had this to say:

"If you want to ask me directly if I see myself here next season at United, I say I see myself here."

In the meantime, it looks like someone will have to get their chequebook out.
