If you needed any more confirmation of just how extremely cancelled Kevin Spacey is, the receipts for his new film are in. It took less than £100 across America on its first day of release.

Billionaire Boys Club, which also starred Baby Driver's Ansel Elgort and Kingsman's Taron Egerton, took $126 on Saturday and $162 on Sunday. That's £225 altogether. That's an average of about six people going to see it in each of the eight locations which the film opened in. By contrast, Spacey's last big film, Baby Driver, opened in 3,226 theatres across America.

This, presumably, is exactly why Ridley Scott dumped Spacey from All The Money In The World and reshot his bits with Christopher Plummer once the accusations of indecent assault and harassment were levelled at Spacey.

Billionaire Boys Club had already been released on video on demand platforms, when distributor Vertical Entertainment put out a statement: "We hope these distressing allegations pertaining to one person’s behaviour — that were not publicly known when the film was made almost two-and-a-half years ago and from someone who has a small, supporting role in Billionaire Boys Club — does not tarnish the release of the film.

"In the end, we hope audiences make up their own minds as to the reprehensible allegations of one person’s past, but not at the expense of the entire cast and crew present on this film."

That's not what's happened.
